According to LiFE@WORK, synthetic lingerie could potentially damage you. We give you a short synopsis about why and
what other options you have to still feel sexy.

Many women don’t know is that synthetics that are used to make lingerie makes them susceptible to infections.

Dr (Prof) K Uma Devi of the M S Ramaiah Memorial Hospital says that frequent use of sexy lingerie can pose a real danger
to women’s health. Synthetics such nylon create excellent conditions for quick growth of pathogenic bacteria and lingerie
can therefore cause irritation and soreness as well as increasing the risk of developing infections. This causes a hazard
because the extremely sensitive skin around genital area can be injured due to friction caused by synthetic lingerie. Many
women suffer from this problem.

Dr Prakash Kini of the The Cradle tells us that if a woman wants to use synthetic lingerie, she should keep herself clean
anytime. Do not use bathing soap though as this leads to irritation a lot of the times and could upset the pH which could lead to infections such as bacterial and fungal vaginitis. These infections cause discomfort such as odour, itching and soreness and could even make her more susceptible to a get other gynaecological infections such as infertility.

There a a couple of soaps good for washing genitals, these can be bought from shops like Boots.

Wearing lingerie

Corsets are generally ok for short-term use and can therefore be worn if they are synthetic. It’s not easy for women to wear
synthetic lingerie in warm countries as it’s humid, but most women in Brittain will have no problems. Most synthetics do
unfortunately offer great fits and shapes. The textile however does not absorb perspiration well, but retains it which
doesn’t just smell but the continous rubbing of wet skin against synthetics causes rashes, which makes it
itchy and uncomfortable.

If you really want to wear your synthetic lingerie, save them for the evenings and wear blends and cottons during the day
